Reader's letter: Off-road solution is total ban
I find it hard to believe that the Town cannot find the solution to the off-road issue. The truth is - a total ban! New residents are under the impression that it's OK. The law says only ride on your property! You must be able to present written permission from every property owner to ride off-road - so once you leave your yard - you're illegal!
So the dust and terror will stop - make it completely illegal within city limits! Areas zoned for horses need "horse zone" and speed limit 15 signs.
I for one would vote for the entire south side, from Acoma to Morongo and from Onaga to the national park, made a no motorized off-road area. This area should be called the West End Equestrian Park - it would invite horse enthusiasts to shop - visit our "Old Town." Even the horse vet is located there. Make use of a good thing.
By the way, (per) C.V.C. 38310, the speed limit is 15 mph in our horse areas. Neighbors write and post the speed limit. Take back our rural area!
