Reader’s letter: Take a lesson: Trees valuable
Regarding the ongoing destruction of Joshua trees…
I recently spoke with a resident of Paso Robles about the beautiful oak trees that dot the rural landscape of that community. I was informed that the local government considers the oak trees a valuable asset that must be protected. Consequently, it is quite difficult to obtain a permit to remove a mature tree. Developers who want to build in or around Paso Robles must work around trees that stand on a property.
I understand Carmel also has similar ordinances protecting the trees that are native to that area.
I wish some of the City Council members from those towns would move to the Morongo Basin and run for office. I’d vote for them in a heartbeat.
