MORONGO BASIN — When will fall arrive?
Yucca Valley recorded an average high of 95 degrees during September, five degrees above normal, and the average low was 64, seven degrees above normal.
The highest temperatures were not especially hot in the Basin. Yucca Valley recorded a high of 97 on Sept. 21 and the low was 57 on Sept. 26.
Other high and low temperatures:
• Landers: 98 and 61;
• Joshua Tree: 101 and 61;
• Twentynine Palms: 103 and 63;
• Wonder Valley: 106 and 61.
Only scatted rain was recorded last month. Landers got 0.06 of an inch, Twentynine Palms got 0.02 of an inch and Wonder Valley, 0.01. Yucca Valley had no rainfall.
The latest National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration prediction is that the probability of an El Niño winter is neutral at this time.
Conditions are changing toward a good possibility for above-average rainfall for California.
