YUCCA VALLEY— A 13-year-old girl is missing in the Morongo Basin.
Sierra Lynn Schulz disappeared from a family friend’s home on Tamarisk Court in Yucca Valley Wednesday evening, Oct. 3, according to Schulz’s mother, Amara Sherman.
Sherman said her daughter left without her cellphone and had no money on her. No one in the family has spoken to her since Wednesday.
Sherman said her family just moved to Yucca Valley from Missouri about a month ago. Sierra still has a boyfriend in Missouri.
“She did have contact with her boyfriend in Missouri the night of her disappearance, but he claims he has not heard from her,” Sherman said.
She said Sierra’s boyfriend was questioned by school officials in Missouri about her disappearance, but the boyfriend said he and Sierra haven’t had any contact.
“My daughter is not on drugs, she’s a straight-A student and she’s in the gifted and talented program,” Sherman noted. Sierra is a home-schooled student with the school district’s Independent Continuing Education program. Because she is home schooled, her mother explained, Sierra doesn’t have a lot of acquaintances and spends most of her time with family.
“I don’t think she would leave on her own accord and not tell anybody,” Sherman said.
Cpl. S. Everhart with the Morongo Basin Sheriff’s Station said Friday, Oct. 5, that a missing person case has been opened for Sierra and remains active.
At this time, the sheriff’s station does not believe Sierra was abducted.
The family is asking anyone with information about Sierra’s whereabouts to call them at (760) 974-6336.
