Yucca Valley High School seniors ready to open a new chapter

YUCCA VALLEY — The Yucca Valley High School graduating seniors are gearing up to celebrate the end of their high school careers next week at the graduation ceremony, starting at 7 p.m. Tuesday on the Trojan football field.

Family and friends are urged to get there early as its expected to be a jam-packed night. The gates for the ceremony will open at 5 p.m. and seniors are required to meet at 6 p.m.

Daniel Goddard will give the valedictorian address and Jessica Shultz the salutatorian address.

Senior class President Madison Tuttle will give a short speech before leading her fellow Trojans in the traditional moving of the tassel.

Graduates will also hear from Morongo Unified School District Superintendent Tom Baumgarten and YHVS Principal Justin Monical.

The seniors must get electronic tickets for their family and friends who want to attend the ceremony. These tickets go live at 8 a.m. today. Monical said you can then share those tickets with those in your party, meaning not everyone has to enter at the same time.

The graduation ceremony is filled to capacity so only ticket holders will be allowed into the ceremony.

Monical has a reminder for seniors as they register online for their tickets: “Please remember that you must not mark ‘redeemed.’ That will be done at the gate by our staff,” Monical said. “If you mark ‘redeemed’ before you get there, you will not be permitted into the ceremony.”

Black Rock and Joshua Springs high schools will also be hosting graduation ceremonies.

Black Rock students will walk the stage at the Copper Mountain College Bell Center at 7 p.m. Monday. Joshua Springs students will graduate on the campus at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
