Libraries fill with enchantment for summer

Children at the Joshua Tree Library watch Wack from the Wacko Show make maoc on Tuesday afternoon.

It’s summertime and the Morongo Basin’s public libraries are celebrating with performances, crafting activities and reading.

Wacko from The Wacko Show enchanted children at the Joshua Tree library Tuesday afternoon with a magic show. Wacko was the third performer hosted by the library as part of its Summer Reading Program.

The Joshua Tree, Yucca Valley and Twentynine Palms libraries are all participating in the San Bernardino County Summer Reading Program. The theme this year is “Tales of Enchantment” and children, teens and adults can all participate by tracking their summer reading for awards.

The public can also take part in craft projects and weekly entertainment programs.

Weekly programs at the Joshua Tree library will include the following:

•Teen crafts: 1 p.m. Mondays.

•Weekly performances: 1 p.m. Tuesdays.

•Story and craft time: 11 a.m. Wednesdays.

Upcoming performers will be Arty Loon on July 2, Buster Balloon on July 9, Ken Frawley on July 16, Mr. Twister on July 23 and Kreepy Kreatures on July 30.
