YUCCA VALLEY — The Town Council on Tuesday agreed to place liens on four properties deemed public nuisances to recover the taxpayer money the town put in to clean them up.

The properties were:

•A vacant lot on Vera Lane, owned by Scott Kamalski, of Yucca Valley: $565 for emergency abatement for illegal dumping.

•55601 Twentynine Palms Highway, owned by Don Norris, of Vista: $740 for abatement of overgrown vegetation on a vacant lot.

•A vacant lot on Airway Drive, owned by Yucca Desert 6.5 LLC of Panorama City: $2,550 to remove a homeless encampment and debris.

•6431 Goleta Ave., owned by Olen Bales, of Yucca Valley: $9,214 to clean and board up an abandoned property with squatters.

“The town bills the property owners,” Deputy Town Manager Shane Stueckle explained.

A total of five properties were abated at the town’s expense, costing $13,070.94.

The cleanup at one property at 56510 Bonanza Drive, owned by Glenn Gaines, was paid in full before the council took action Tuesday, according to Stueckle.
