Born on Dec. 30, 1938, in Evanston, Illinois, to Eugene Clifford and Hazel White, Mickey Luckman was raised in the northern suburbs of Chicago but called Joshua Tree home for half a century.
She showed her love for her community here in her work for many organizations. She previously served on the boards of the Mojave Desert Land Trust and Basin Wide Foundation among many others. She served the last 11 years on the Board of Directors of the Joshua Basin Water District.
A talented artist herself, Mickey was also a tireless supporter of the Morongo Basin artist community.
Mickey valued all people and things and believed in peace, goodness, compassion, personal responsibility, care for the planet and the oneness of the universe.
She died of natural causes June 10, 2019, in Joshua Tree.
Mikey was preceded in death by her brother Russ Cliffords.
She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Luckman Carter, of Twentynine Palms, and brothers Bill Clifford and wife Linda, of Alto, Michigan, Jerry Clifford and husband BJ Fan, of Camarillo, Jim Clifford, of Central Point, Oregon, and David Skillin and wife Shawn, of San Diego.
A celebration of life will be held, although a date has not been set. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mojave Desert Land Trust or Unity Home.
