Barbara Anderson, a 39-year resident of Yucca Valley, died Oct. 3, 2012, in Joshua Tree. She was 65 years old.
The daughter of Benjamin and Marie Reese, she was born Sept. 23, 1947, in Ashville, N.C.
Mrs. Anderson was a registered nurse and certified diabetes educator. She was highly acclaimed for implementing a diabetes education program at Desert Regional Medical Center. The program branched out to the Hi-Desert Medical Center. She was the only single person to receive the President’s Award in 2011.
Barbara was first and foremost a loving and caring mother. Her children and grandchildren always came first. Her warmth and compassion affected everyone she met and her kindness and generosity were shared with family as well as strangers.
She was preceded in death by her father, Benjamin Reese.
She is survived by mother Marie Reese of Knoxville, Tenn., sister Wanda Mize of Knoxville, Tenn., son Richard Rogers of Austin, Texas, daughter Tracey Erickson of Akron, Ohio, daughter Christy Neades of Yucaipa, daughter Melissa Anderson of Yucca Valley, son Nathan Anderson of Yucca Valley, daughter Stephanie Anderson of Yucca Valley, granddaughter Sierra Sawtelle of Akron, Ohio, granddaughter Taylor Skorman of Cincinnatti, Ohio, grandson Rion Commerford, Yucaipa, grandson Jakob Commerford of Yucaipa, granddaughter Trinity Neades of Yucaipa, grandson Parker Reyes of Yucca Valley, grandson Benjamin Reyes of Yucca Valley and fiancé Hugh Vance of Palm Springs.
She helped save hundreds of lives in her 30-year career as a registered nurse and diabetes educator. She will be loved and missed by everyone she knew, especially her children and grandchildren. May she have everlasting peace and remain in our hearts forever.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Oct. 13 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
