The Rev. Aloysius A. Lucking, a retired priest living in Morongo Valley, passed away Sept. 15, 2009, after a struggle with cancer.
Father Lucking came to the San Bernardino Diocese from the Archdiocese of Miami in 1995 and since then enjoyed living in California and supplying services as needed in parishes in the low desert.
Born to Anthony Lucking and Barbara Rainardy in Hastings, Minn., Sept. 30, 1923, he was ordained to the Order of the Holy Cross at the Crosier House of Studies in Hastings, Neb., June 3, 1950, by the Most Rev. Louis Kucera, bishop of Lincoln, Neb.
He later was incardinated into the Archdiocese of Miami, where he continued his priestly ministry until his retirement.
Bishop Gerald Barnes expressed his regret at Father Lucking’s passing. He was grateful for his presence and service in the Diocese of San Bernardino and asked everyone to pray for his eternal rest.
A funeral Mass and Rosary will be said at 10 a.m. Sept. 30 at St. Mary of the Valley Catholic Church at 7495 Church Street in Yucca Valley. A graveside service will follow at 3 p.m. at Montecito Memorial Park, 3520 E. Washington Street in Colton.
