Thomas E. Lear, a lifetime resident of California and a 12-year resident of Yucca Valley, died from chronic heart failure April 30, 2019, at his home. He was 71 years old.
Tom was a longtime employee of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, like his grandfather, father and brothers.
As a young man, he often would accompany his grandfather, William Lear, and his great uncle, Bob Lear, to Twentynine Palms to help maintain their homesteads at Lear Avenue and Indian Cove Road. He had a great love of the desert and enjoyed the peaceful serenity the desert offered. Upon his retirement, he made Yucca Valley his home. He truly loved the community, his friends and his favorite hangout, the Yucca Valley Denny’s Restaurant.
Tom was preceded in death by his mother, Alice Lear, in 2014, and is survived by his 97-year-old father, George Lear, his aunt, Anne Lear, six siblings, three children and four grandchildren.
Rest in peace and know that we all miss you; until we meet again.
