Carol Joann Diemer, a 66-year resident of California and a 47-year resident of Twentynine Palms, died Feb. 15, 2019, in Rancho Mirage. She was 80 years old.
The daughter of Homer and Lena Shipton, she was born Aug. 2, 1938, in Coitsville, Ohio.
She worked for the Twentynine Palms Department of Motor Vehicles for 28 years before her eventual retirement.
She was a member of Immanuel-Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, in Twentynine Palms.
Carol belonged to the Twentynine Palms Bowling League and volunteered at the elementary schools and at church. She also belonged to a bunco group.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Lena Shipton, and her father, Homer Shipton.
She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, RuthAnn and Robert Tinseth, of Lake Forest; her son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Linda Diemer, of Goodyear, Arizona; her daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Gerald Bucklin, of Palm Desert; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 6, at Hope Lutheran Church at 45900 Portola Ave., Palm Desert, CA 92260.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Carol Diemer’s name to the National Kidney Foundation.
