Gary Lee Alexander, a 40-year resident of Yucca Valley, died Nov. 2, 2018. He was 66 years old.
He was born June 10, 1952, in Artesia and raised in Anaheim, where he graduated from Katella High School.
He moved his young family to the high desert for health reasons when he discovered that he suffered from ankylosing spondylitis, a form of severe arthritis. Despite debilitating pain, he remained a car enthusiast, gardener, all-around fix-it guy, and active member of his church, first at Joshua Springs and later at At The Cross Christian Fellowship. His strong commitment to sharing his love of Jesus inspired his family and friends.
He will be remembered for his goofy sense of humor, generosity that transcended his innate thriftiness, and unending friendliness. His family will dearly miss his Scrabble games, even though he wouldn’t make a move before consulting his well-thumbed dictionary.
He is survived by his mother, Irene Alexander, of Yucca Valley, his daughters, Lene Deering, of Roseville, and Jenna Maguire, of Rocklin, his brothers, Gene Alexander, of Santa Ana, Don Alexander, of Duluth, Minnesota, and Lance Alexander, of Gaithersburg, Maryland, and his sister, Charlene Alexander, of Yucca Valley.
A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. today at At The Cross Christian Fellowship in Yucca Valley. Everyone is welcome to attend the service and the potluck meal.
