Charles “Ken” Morrison went to Heaven to be with his Lord and Savior in the early morning hours of April 10, 2019. Ken is survived by his wife of almost 54 years, Janis, and his children, Bret Morrison and wife Lucinda and Renee Loewen and husband Greg, also their grandchildren, Kelsey Morrison Smith and husband Zach and their son Beckett, Ashlyn Morrison, Nathan Loewen and Josh Morrison.
Ken was born in Los Angeles and moved to Yucca Valley in 1972.
He served proudly in the U.S. Army.
He started his career as a cable splicer for the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. When he moved to the desert, he started a successful construction company. He also served on the board of directors of the Morongo Unified School District and then as a trustee of Copper Mountain College.
Ken’s greatest assets were his keen wit, his incredible sense of humor and his kindness to everyone he knew. He was an elder at the Evangelical Free Church where he helped build the church’s expansion. He was also involved in the Valley Chapel.
Ken struggled with severe physical issues throughout his illness. Mentally he was aware and often spoke of his desire to go to Heaven. He loved the Lord as his Savior and his goal was to get to Heaven. He was quoted as saying, “I cannot walk here, and I can’t wait to walk the streets of gold in Heaven.”
A kind and giving man, he will be deeply missed.
A private family service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ken’s name to The Way Station, P.O. Box 613, Joshua Tree, CA 92252, (760) 366-8088.
