Bart Alvarez, a 15-year resident of Morongo Valley, died April 9, 2013, in Morongo Valley. He was 41 years old.
The son of Robert Alvarez Sr. and Irene Gatica, he was born Jan. 25, 1972, in Los Angeles.
He was a carpenter by profession.
He enjoyed fishing, golf and being with his family.
Mr. Alvarez was preceded in death by Robert Alvarez Sr. and Gracie Alvarez.
He is survived by his wife, Brandy Marquez-Alvarez of Morongo Valley; his sons, Nicholas Marquez-Alvarez, Nathaniel Marquez-Alvarez and Micah Marquez-Alvarez, all of Morongo Valley, and Matthew Alvarez of Ore.; his daughters, Emily Marquez-Alvarez of Morongo Valley, Irene Alvarez of Arizona and Amina Alvarez of Arizona; stepdaughter Hanna Marquez of San Diego; his mother, Irene Gatica of Morongo Valley; and his mother-in-law, Janet Marquez of Morongo Valley.
He is also survived by brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Caryn Alvarez of Desert Hot Springs; sister and brother-in-law, Corrina and Tony Gonzales of Morongo Valley; sister Marci Alvarez of Yucaipa; his stepmother, Christine Covarrubias of Morongo Valley; and many more brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service begins at 1 p.m. May 3 at St. Mary of the Valley, and a celebration of life will follow the services at Covington Park in Morongo Valley.
