Margaret “Maggie” McPhee McDougall Dean passed away peacefully after complications from COPD on Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2019, in Joshua Tree.
Maggie was born July 8, 1943, in Rutherglen, Scotland, to John McDougall and Bridget Campbell of Rutherglen, Scotland.
She was preceded in her death by her parents, her brother, John McDougall, and her sisters Theresa, Grace, Annie “Nan,” Catherine “Cathie” and Mary “Mae.”
She is survived by her sisters Helen, Patricia and Lynnette, and her sons, Scott (Alice) Dean, of Blythe, and Eric (Teresa Smith) Dean, of Henderson, Nevada.
She is also by her grandchildren, Jared, Travis, Nicholas, Preston, Jakob, Jessica, Jamez, Sierra and Shyloh, and by many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She still had her lovely Scottish accent even though she had been in America since she was 17. She loved to read and sing Scottish lullabies to her grandchildren.
A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 9, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 56885 Onaga Trail, Yucca Valley, CA 92284.
