Some folks still believe that Don is this great business billionaire and knows how to make deals, but now it’s being revealed from federal government sources that over a 10-year period he lost $1.2 billion. In fact it says that he, himself, lost more money in one year more than any other American. I believe it was $250 million. Then it says that one year he received $53 million income from “interest.” No record as to the source of these funds. Makes one wonder about this.

Don’t know about you, but I paid more in taxes this year and if I got $53 million I’d be reporting it. This was from 1985-94. He had reached a point when the banks saw him as a risk and stopped lending him money. So where did he get his money? Also, eight out those 10 years he paid 0 tax. Zero!

He’s a liar, a cheat and has conned a whole bunch of folks. If you want to continue to believe him, be my guest, but he’ll only lead you to the dark side. Time for some folks to look at the facts.

Yes, he has and continues to con his dumb downed hard core supporters. However, he is not alone in this con job. Fox News and AM talk radio are complicit in this very effective con job. I am not convinced the majority of his supporters see him as a successful business man after the aforementioned losses. They do not care about his bankruptcies and financial corruption with Arab states and Russia. He was right when he said he could shoot someone and not lose support from his hard core supporters. The only real thing that matters to the Trump Trash in this country is his nativism and a rational for their worst emotions and failures.

ASecondTake

You have no problem that ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, MSNBC, .... have given up unbiased reporting have become the communication branch of the Democratic Party.

You make general broad statements concerning Arab states and Russian. I challenge you to name specific actual financial corruption.

Pass the popcorn, you are going to loose your mind when Trump wins again in 2020. I want a front row seat for this.

He's still your President !!! I'd rather have him than a liberal that puts illegal aliens before our citizens...

idavidgraficks

It's quite well known the Trump businesses HIRE illegal Aliens. Both in New York, NY and Florida. That means Trump prefers to hire illegal aliens OVER US Citizens. You were conned which is EXACTLY what Mr. Bot was talking about.

TwoToeJoe

Obviously the claim that Trump colluded with the Russians to steal the 2016 Presidential election turned out to be an elaborate "con job". The claim that former FBI head James Comey was unjustly fired by Trump turned out to be a "con job". The claim that there’s no such thing as the Deep State turned out to be a "con job". The claim that there is no illegal immigration crisis at our borders turned out to be a "con job". The claim that Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh gang raped several women over 30 years ago but nobody reported it turned out to be a "con job". The list of "con jobs" is endless. These "con jobs" are reported daily as facts and published daily by media such as CNN, MSNBC, ABC, NBC, CBS, Washington Post, New York Times, and many other fake news sources that has "conned" the gullible and the naïve. Sadly those media sources that has "conned a whole bunch of folks" and "lead people to the dark side" are exposed daily when the facts are uncovered. It is time for Stephen J. Bost and many others "to look at the facts" instead of media driven political hyperbole.

if you want to know some details about the southern border check out today's la times page a2 "portraits of six kids". if you want to know why this happened read in this month's atlantic, "trump's bigotry" page 52.

TwoToeJoe

I bet you never miss an issue of "The Atlantic" Bill. Especially the progressive opinion editorials specifically written by David A. Graham. Just this month of May he has written not only that often repeated "An Oral History of Trump’s Bigotry" but many other liberal politically driven drivel such as :
"A Single Scandal Sums Up All of Trump’s Failures" "Trump’s Impeachment Finger Trap" "Nancy Pelosi Might Be the Last Barrier Between Trump and Impeachment" "Don McGahn’s Testimony Would Be the Main Event" "The Unchecked Corruption of Trump’s Cabinet" "Trump’s Surreal Phone Call With Vladimir Putin" "Why Is Trump Suddenly Talking About God?" "Barr Misled the Public—And It Worked".
Unfortunately "The Atlantic" has had as much credibility and contains the same political philosophy as Pravda and CNN's Rachael Maddow's TDS show. I now know why some claim the "Washington Times" as being not acceptable while praising the rant-like commentaries written by David Graham of "The Atlantic". The LA Times story with the "details about the southern border" insinuating that our border patrol agents are kidnapping and murdering children is another "con job" that the liberal media uses to promote it's progressive propaganda. Sorry but only the gullible and the naïve fall for that nonsense.

BBB

Yeah TTJ, I guess the gullible folks in Grand Rapids, MI are having second thoughts about their president, something akin to buyers' remorse. Blue collar workers in the Rust Belt are still losing their jobs as companies continue to move manufacturing jobs offshore.

Funny thing about David A. Graham, he attended Duke University about same time as Stephan Miller, and both wrote for the student newspaper. Editorial meetings had to be a gas. Don the Con fits Trump like a custom tailored suit.

horsehouse

The gullible and naive are not limited to one party. Few will weigh the arguments and most will stick to the ideology suiting their fanaticism. Watch the comments.

Trump is a fake billionaire and an unprincipled liar and crook. Simply put, he is unfit for office. It is feared that his Saudi butchers, his N. Korean lover and Russian oligarchs buddies and Putin are actually coaching him in his bid for reelection. He's sold the country out. He will not step down. This man is just another scumbag, fascist millionaire who has the morality and ethics of a rabid bug.

ASecondTake

He paid zero taxes eight of the ten last years? And? He used existing tax laws and paid no taxes. Big deal?

Tell me you didn’t use the tax laws to avoid paying what you legally didn’t have to pay.

You avoided all of the legal tax right offs and paid taxes you didn’t legally have to pay?

Hypocrisy!

You are demonstrating an inability to critically think.

bill jenkins

who cares if trump is a billionaire or not? answer trump and the trumpies. no one except trump and the irs knows, and they won't show is the goods. maybe he's actually in the hole. either way what thinking person cares? the reason tax returns are important however is not to prove wealth but to see to whom he is beholding. this could of course have all sorts of meaning when it comes to policy making.

BBB

The Trump family used deceptive accounting to undervalue their father's (Fred) real estate holdings upon his death, allowing our president and siblings to inherit more than legally entitled. They basically dodged gift and estate taxes. The president's older sister Maryanne Trump Barry, a federal appellate judge when he was elected recently retired, ending an investigation into whether she violated judicial conduct rules by participating in fraudulent tax schemes with her siblings. This was determined by an indepth investigation. Your claim that Branson is a tax cheat is weak, but nearly not as weak as....You avoided all the legal tax right offs and paid taxes you didn't legally have to pay? It's write offs pal. A write off deducts value. The Trump family used inflated write offs to avoid their tax burden. I guess Rex Tillerson was spot-on when he tabbed Trump a moron, it apparently applies to some of his ardent supporters as well.

You would well severed staying off the internet, and crack a book or two. Books are those things made with paper and paste, with useful information between the covers. After mastering the book thing you might be ready for some critical thinking.

CookieG

The statement "The Trump family used deceptive accounting to undervalue their father's (Fred) real estate holdings upon his death, allowing our president and siblings to inherit more than legally entitled" is pure speculation most likely akin to the belief that Donald Trump colluded with the Russians.

Notice the words "could" and "if" in this headline and yet stated as "fact".

"New York could levy hefty penalties if Trump tax fraud is proven"
https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2018/10/03/new-york-trump-tax-fraud/1512265002/

Most of the "in-depth investigations" began when Donald J. Trump was elected.

"More than 100 investigations were started by New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman just days after President Trump was elected."
https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/albany/2018/02/08/blue-states-vs-washington-how-fight-growing-across-america/301363002/

Eric Schneiderman was well known for bringing the civil rights lawsuit against "The Weinstein Company" and then resigned because he himself was exposed as sexual predator.

Useful information and mastering the art of determining hearsay from facts does wonders for critical thinking.

BBB

Try updating your sources. The NY Times performed the research and investigation into the Trumps' slick moves to avoid their share of inheritance taxes and published the article in 2019. CPA's, tax attorneys, as well as reporters work on something of this scale. Wills, property taxes, and land sales are public records in the state of New York, creating the components for a grand connect the dots exercise. The fourth estate brings garbage to light, it's another foundation of democracy that sorts it out. If the Trumps were so awfully wronged they can sue the NY Times. Really, who cares about Eric Schneiderman, just another predator getting what he deserves. One can only hope the Con gets his due too. Was the multi-million dollar settlement against Trump U based on hearsay? Oh wait, the judge was a biased Mexican, or was it Spaniard,. so it was all contrived, right?

CookieG

The New York Times article was published on October 2nd 2018 not in 2019. Must be another mistake in the transposition of figures or bad information you rely on. https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2018/10/02/us/politics/donald-trump-tax-schemes-fred-trump.html Fred Trumps gift tax return was stated at 41.4 million. When audited by tax authorities the value was raised to 57.1 million. When sold a few years later it went for 900 million. As The Times said, “It is an open secret among tax practitioners that evasion of gift taxes is rampant and rarely prosecuted.†As the New York Times stated "The I.R.S. recognizes that GRATs create powerful incentives to greatly undervalue assets, especially when those assets are not publicly traded stocks with transparent prices. Indeed, every $10 million reduction in the valuation of Fred Trump’s empire would save the Trumps either $10 million in annuity payments or $5.5 million in gift taxes. This is why the I.R.S. requires families taking advantage of GRATs to submit independent appraisals and threatens penalties for those who lowball valuations." As USA Today stated "If you used a GRAT, it’s likely that the transaction would be approved. Using GRATs to reduce taxes is not only a popular tax reduction method used by the ultrawealthy (think Sheldon Adelson, Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates, Lloyd Blankfein, Sam Walton), it has also been approved by the tax courts, been in the tax code for decades, and never been scaled back by Congress. As one tax-advice columnist reported, “GRATs are great.†"Is Donald Trump smart on taxes, or a clever tax con man who committed 'outright fraud'?" https://www.usatoday.com/story/opinion/2018/10/15/donald-trump-taxes-smart-legal-fraud-new-york-times-column/1639787002/ "Trump likely couldn't be prosecuted for tax fraud – even if the Times report is true" https://www.cbsnews.com/news/trump-couldnt-be-prosecuted-for-tax-fraud-even-if-what-the-new-york-times-reported-is-true/ As far as the Trump University lawsuit went down it was settled for 25 million and did not require Trump to acknowledge any wrongdoing. Trump's defense team said the decision was made to settle so that years of potential litigation could be avoided. Trump lawyer Alan Garten released a statement saying the Trump Organization was “pleased†the lawsuits have been resolved. “While we have no doubt that Trump University would have prevailed at trial based on the merits of this case, resolution of these matters allows President-Elect Trump to devote his full attention to the important issues facing our great nation,†Garten’s statement said. "The only portion of the case that arguably may not be a tax write-off to Mr. Trump is the $1 million in penalties paid to New York. In general, fines and penalties paid to the government are not deductible. Section 162(f) of the tax code prohibits deducting ‘‘any fine or similar penalty paid to a government for the violation of any law.’’ Yet, barring express agreements in settlements not to deduct something, many penalties can be deducted, too. For one thing, despite punitive sounding names, some fines and penalties are considered remedial and deductible. That allows some flexibility." The 25 million paid to settle the lawsuit was used as a tax write off possibly creating another tax scandal that the New York Times should investigate. https://www.forbes.com/sites/robertwood/2017/04/03/trump-university-settlement-nets-25m-write-off-for-trump-taxes-for-students/#7ebc24017298 Obviously Donald J Trump is a very shrewd businessman and hires only the best tax accountants and lawyers that money can buy rather than just depending on Turbotax like most of us.

The article was published 4/10/19. Yeah you're right, the prez is a sharp businessman, he made a couple of million off the Twenty-nine Palms Band of Mission Indians in the early 2000's. The soon realized they were getting the shaft and parted ways. Trump 29, what a concept.

CookieG

The NY Times published the research and investigation article on October 2nd 2018 as I stated with the reference. https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2018/10/02/us/politics/donald-trump-tax-schemes-fred-trump.html On April 10th the New York Times wrote the "Retiring as a Judge, Trump’s Sister Ends Court Inquiry Into Her Role in Tax Dodges" article that referenced the October 2nd 2018 article. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/04/10/us/maryanne-trump-barry-misconduct-inquiry.html Yes you're right about the President being a sharp businessman making millions off the Twentynine Palms Band of Mission Indians. Once the reference thingy is mastered even you could be ready for some critical thinking.

What's your point? The article about Trump's sister resigning as a federal judge was published on 4/10/19, the ABA Journal ran a story the next day. I'm out.

Wednesday, June 11 - Huh... Acting Homeland Security Kevin McHale Kalinin told congress Tuesday that 60,000 children have been taken into DHS custody in the last 40 days. Yesterday we heard about the conditions in those American-ran youth detention camps. Conditions are deplorable, uninhabitable, rotten food issues, little if any healthcare, children dying, cages, etc. Knock, knock... time for a little kickback from Trump supporters. All the red flags are up, whistles are blowing, it’s time for good Americans who support this imperial presidency to at least demonstrate some “kickback†on something. Europe, in the 20th century, during it’s most troubling years, many good people didn't speak out. It wouldn’t be a shock to read a tweet tomorrow (or today) that all those kids will be used for forced labor, and that Mexico will ;pay for and cater their food.

TwoToeJoe

Gee Branson just last month or so you were claiming the border situation was a manufactured crisis and now you are admitting it is. The acting Homeland Security Secretary is Kevin McAleenan. I do not know who Kevin McHale Kalinin is but like most disinformation otherwise known as propaganda passed in these comments I guess it is on par. More than 140,000 illegal immigrants were taken in custody or turned back in the last 30 days alone with 60,00 children in the last 40 days. 15% were fraudulent claims of family units. Some children were rentals. 90% never show up in court for asylum hearings. Red flags are up and congress cares less about the root cause and much like you tend to focus on treating symptoms rather than solving the problem. Border patrol agents are supposed to apprehend and detain illegal border crossings not daycare facilitators. Thankfully we have a very competent President and outstanding leaders in Homeland Security who are blowing the whistles regarding our illegal immigration problems. Congress can solve this problem immediately but would rather focus on political fodder such as Stephan Bost and others like you do so well. Knock knock Branson. Good people are speaking out!

Branson Hunter

Branson Hunter has gripped for decades that congress has sat on their hands doing nothing about controlling borders and modernizing the immigration infrastructure. Many Republicans are afraid to address the presidents bizarre behavior. Others are demonstrating cult like blind support. Still, some Republicans understand that they can criticize the president on issues to which they disagree and still support him. We haven't seen that in here. What we see here from a few good folks is the blind support approach.

CookieG

President Trump definitely is not sitting on his hands and doing nothing about the border crisis. One would think that many good folks that express the blind hatred approach for our President give him some credit for many accomplishments made since taking office. Read Julian Gonzalez diatribe in today's paper. It would definitely make you happy.
