Donald Trump is a cheat, a con man and a scam artist who believes he can fool enough of the American voting public to be re-elected. Sadly he may be right.

Despite the several instances of obstruction of justice clearly defined in the Mueller report, he is committing obstruction in plain view by refusing to comply with valid subpoenas issued by the congressional oversight committees in the House of Representatives. The oversight responsibility of Congress is clearly defined in the Constitution and is one of the most vital of the “checks and balances” that insure American democracy can endure.

Despite these obvious “High Crimes and Misdemeanors,” the Republicans in Congress refuse to acknowledge his betrayal of the office of the presidency. His malfeasance and abuse of power, not to mention appointing corrupt people to cabinet level office, are clearly a danger to American democracy.

In a recent temper tantrum in the rose garden he proclaimed he will not consider any legislation until Congress stops investigating his administration. The president of the United States is on strike! He is refusing to do his job unless Congress agrees not to do their job. Attempting to blackmail Congress into submitting to his will is one more instance of Trump moving toward an imperial presidency.

Fortunately, the third branch of government defined in the Constitution has the final say on these matters. Federal judges have struck down his specious claims of executive privilege on two attempts at hiding his financial dealing with banks and his personal accounting firm. This has struck fear in his black heart that it is all starting to unravel.

Be it by impeachment or election defeat, this long national nightmare must end. The future of American democracy is at stake.

Oh boy, another kool-aid drinker, took the blue pill did you

ASecondTake

Keep the blinders on and ignore the fact that there were folks attempting circumvent the people will and overthrow this President. Your hypocrisy in that you had no problem with crimes committed by the previous administration and the Democratic Presidential nominee.

almert

Fred, stop watching fake news and drinking the koolaid. You need help

horsehouse

Fred, I feel your pain and I’m not drinking Kool Aid. I remember that was the drink offered by the crazy autocratic murderer in Jonestown. As for the wearing blinders accusation it is interesting to hear my friends of other inclinations say that the Mueller Report exonerated the president. That conclusion can only be drawn by people wearing blinders. From my recollection the Constitution was held up as the law of the land (which it is) by people who hated Obama, but now it is not so important to those people now that it provides for a resolution through impeachment.

TwoToeJoe

The Russian Collusion fabrication is the greatest Hoax in the history of American politics. Corrupt Obama administration cabinet level bureaucrats such as Attorney General Loretta Lynch, subordinate attorney generals such as Bruce Ohr and Rod Rosenstein, FBI notables like James Baker, James Comey, and Andrew McCabe, intelligence kingpins such as John Brennan and James Clapper, and many other Obama administration officials like Sally Yates, Susan Rice and Samantha Power are all complicit in this obvious scam. Thankfully William Barr, Michael Horowitz and John Durham are investigating that hoax and will expose the real malfeasance and abuse of power that is clearly a danger to our American democracy real soon. The Mueller Investigation found absolutely no evidence that Trump was in cahoots with the Russians. Case closed! Now since the hoax has been exposed your focus is centered on obstruction of justice and impeachment for something that never happened. Next will be the specious claims of financial dealings, accounting practices, taxes or whatever imaginable in the attempt to get the President removed from office. I am truly sorry that the Russian Collusion Hoax did not work out very well for you, the "resistance" and the "never trumpers". I guess your long "nightmare" will continue. I also feel your pain Fred but it is not the "Kool Aid" but probably a severe case of "Trump Derangement Syndrome " which is typically repetitive expressions of hyperbolic disgust, ridicule, fear of actual ideological or policy perspectives, and a generalized state of anxiety regarding the future of the country that has no basis in fact.

horsehouse

The point has been made that many people on each side of the divide can be named for perceived wrongdoings. As TTJ points out there are many people with ideas that this president is unusual, dangerous, and scary. None of them have been indicted but the argument will be made that the “deep state†is all powerful and therefore they escaped. Okay, bring it on so that the Trump antagonists can stand next to all the Trump crooks that have already pled guilty or have been convicted. Pass the Kool aide please.

TwoToeJoe

The Russian Collusion fabrication referred to as "perceived wrongdoings" turned out to be the greatest Hoax in the history of American politics. As I pointed out "William Barr, Michael Horowitz and John Durham are investigating that hoax and will expose the real malfeasance and abuse of power that is clearly a danger to our American democracy ". I also stated that "I am truly sorry that the Russian Collusion Hoax did not work out very well for you, the "resistance" and the "never trumpers"". Hopefully for your sake William Barr, Michael Horowitz, and John Durham will clear and "exonerate" all those who are accused of or should I say "perceived wrongdoings" regarding “unauthorized media contactsâ€, "multiple criminal leaks in investigations", “ FISA warrant process abusesâ€, “lack of professionalism in the [Clinton] email investigationâ€, numerous "abuse of power allegations". I hope and pray for your sake and those suffering from "Trump Derangement Syndrome" that there will be no "indictments" and clear "exonerations" from the investigations that may turn into a string of convictions or cooperating witnesses exposing the "perceived wrongdoings" of the "unusual, dangerous, and scary" tactics of the "deep state". Clearly those who professed that our president was a Russian stooge were drinking something much more potent than "Kool aide"!

CookieG

I guess we really have to wait and see what that investigation reveals. What is up with the weird characters? Maybe the Russian bots at work again?

horsehouse

The evidence for collusion was not there. That does not mean that autocrats are not capable of mustering minions to their perversion of the Constitution and spin angry people into a force of destruction with or without Kool Aid.

Branson Hunter

Let the chips fall where they may. Now we have rocket boy helping the President in his reelection. Isn't that special.

CookieG

Goodness Gracious! Perhaps we should get that investigation started immediately!

horsehouse

An impeachment inquiry is an investigation. Let’s get on with it to uncover the truth or let’s shut up.

TwoToeJoe

I would have thought the FBI investigation would had worked. But nope. The house panel investigated but that did not work either. The senate investigated but no that did not work. Then the Mueller investigation went on for two years and did not work. I hope for your sake the impeachment approach works. Like the X-Files TV show about UFOs the truth is out there somewhere I am sure.

Perspicacity

I anticipate with much joy, that Fred's nightmare shall continue well beyond 2020. Like a Twilight Zone episode, I hope that Fred and his kind, spend every waking moment consumed with fear dwelling on the fact that there is no escape from the fact Trump is the leader of the greatest nation on earth known as America. Home of the free land, of the brave, with a scattering of cowards and true criminals known as democrats. The real threat to America.

Branson Hunter

The House is muttering around sending out writs commanding person designated to appear in court under a penalty for failure and nothing happens. The House makes threats and nothing happens. The House invokes its powers of congress and nothing happens. It looks like an Imperial Presidency. Worthless tweets offered as distractions to control the media.Tweets made in underware setting in a gooden bed that take the place of infrastructure and the absence of any plans. A presidency that ignores the Constitution and one with credibility whatsoever. Everything out of the mouth is mush and pathological lies. It is useless calling one another in here cowards and criminals when they have a strong belief that the President is a psycho. He will not step down; he will suspend the elections declaring they are unfair or rigged;he suspend the free press as we know it; he will do away with ALJ (judges), he will tear down many more regulations that keep us safer. In the end, it will be a world disaster and the White House will be fumigated.

idavidgraficks

I've been on this digital forum for over a dozen years and have over 1200 comments through those years. I've been less involved on the HDS since Trump's been President because his supporters have far far more words (although almost fact-free and HIGHLY subjective to their world). I fully agree with Fred and his LTE.

horsehouse

Yes, it does become a bit unnerving to expose oneself when people like Persp...refer to those of us who like facts are called criminals. You are right, there is no reason to argue with that mentality.

CookieG

I would say Fred's claim that the obstruction of justice clearly defined in the Mueller report would be highly subjective and definitely not a fact…….. I would say Fred's claim that the malfeasance, abuse of power and appointing corrupt people to cabinet level offices and then stating this is clearly a danger to American democracy would be highly subjective and definitely not a fact…… I would say since Trump has been President his detractors have had far more fact free accusations and most are clearly subjective even in their world….. I would say that Nancy Pelosi's claim that our president is a criminal would be highly subjective and totally fact free and those of us who like facts could argue that mentality……. I would agree that Fred and his denizens can not fool enough of the American voting public and Donald J Trump just might win the reelection…………….

bill jenkins

personally i think trump will get creamed in 2020------if he runs.

TwoToeJoe

There have been many predictions Bill. Last time John Oliver said Do it do it. Look at me do it and I will personally write you a campaign check now on behalf of this country which does not want you to be president but badly wants you to run. Bill Maher and his audience laughed when Ann Coulter predicted Trump will win the election. President Obama told Jimmy Kimmel that I least I will go down as president. Pollster Nate Silver predicted a 50 to 38 Hillary win. Steven Colbert tells Trump You are not going to be president alright. It's been fun. It's been great but come on buddy. Rachel Maddow said unless this election happens on Mars Donald Trump will lose. Mark Cuban said it will be a landslide for Hillary. No question. Bill Kristal said Donald Trump will just choke. Lawrence Odonnel said Trump was headed for a landslide defeat. Barack Obama said I continue to believe Mr. Trump will not be President. Karl Rove said that the Republicans are not going to win this election. Even Ted Cruz said if we nominate Donald Trump Hillary beats him. I would suggest not to take any chances and keep up with searching for some crime that may or may not have been committed. Fred is doing a fantastic job would you agree.

Branson Hunter

Sure Trump overcame all the odds... even losing the popular vote. Trump turned to the communists, Russian and their operatives for help. They're now operating quite successfully to win another American presidential election. And that's okay with a disturbing number of misguided and unwitting Americans. Putin's Russian and Trump are doing exactly what Nikita Khrushchev said: On November 18, 1956, Communist leader Nikita Khrushchev speaking to America declared "We will bury you!" The speech prompted the envoys from twelve NATO nations and Israel to leave the room. Today, Trump-:Putin and communist Russia are carrying Khrushchev’s plan to burry US. They are frantically moving toward the overthrow of the United States of America by peaceful means. The other concern is neo-fascist movement from within. Part of what fascist politics does is get people to disassociate from reality. History tells us that fascism has always been a latent force in America. “When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross.†– Sinclair Lewis

CookieG

Ever get together with Don McKinney to discuss conspiracy theories? Sounds remarkably similar!

bill jenkins

i also predict biden won't be the dec. nominee.

Branson Hunter

...Just saying Trump got elected with the help of communists and social media operatives telling lies and foisting conspiracy theories and misinformation. That is history. Sure Trump beat the odds. Un-huh... What about that Rudy Giuliani guy?: ‘Truth isn’t truth’: Rudy Giuliani’s flub tops 2018’s quotes of the year. Reasonable and prudent people stop believing someone when they are repeatedly told big fat whoopers.

DougDolde

You are right on and I am amazed by the stupid ignorant fools who are dissing you. This is why we have a criminal in the white house

Branson Hunter

Lawmakers want answers from the FBI about what it did — if anything — to examine the a Florida election vendor's systems. The company admits it was targeted by Russian hackers in 2016 (Wednesday 6/11/2019 Morning Cyber Security news). Un-huh...The communists hacked into US voting machines. Trump's has allegedly uses drugs for decades, and now he's displaying all the red flags of dementia. Russia and N. Korea communists is directly related to this despicable clown election. Today, they are active in his re-election through conspiratorial and illegal means. Putin and buddie have enough on video to destroy Trump. His and his family are compromised. The supreme leader of North Korea Kim Jong-un is helping get trump re-election. At some point you have "cut bait" and take a step back -- or continue to support the demise of democracy.

Branson Hunter

Apology: proofreading not a strong point for me.

TwoToeJoe

At least your conspiracy theories are top notch. Cookie is right. Keep working on it and you may even surpass Don.

Branson Hunter

Lets try this with the truth is not truth folks: The President advocated and declaration that he will (again) use foreign Russian intelligence information passed to him in order to spread dirt on his opponent or for whatever benefits him. That it is a violation of federal codes. Trump knows that so what does he do? He acknowledged he will accept communist intelligence to spread dirt on his opponent and no need to inform the FBI. Yes there is a conspiracy afoot. The Russians and Trump vs. The American People.

TwoToeJoe

Truth? Only Hillary Clinton and the DNC should be allowed to buy and use fake foreign Russian intelligence political dirt on an opponent and use it for whatever benefits them. No violation of federal codes exist there. Even when leaked to the press and handed over to our intelligence agencies and subsequently passed to the FBI to obtain FISA warrants without verification to spy on and used against an opposing political campaign no problem there. Only good politicians like Representative Adam Schiff would take a direct call and listen Ukrainians posing as Russians to obtain foreign political dirt. No problem there either. Yes this is the real conspiracy and definitely not a supposed hypothetical. I think they call that selective moral outrage usually referred to as political fodder. Good try.

bill jenkins

i read in the times recently that trump has the nickname of Pele. it was given to him by the caddies on his golf courses. it seems he regularly kicks his drives out of the rough. what more need be said about the character of a person who cheats at golf?

Branson Hunter

Okay, let hear from the Truth is not Truth supporters of this knurly president defend The US Office of Special Counsel determined that White House counselor Kellyanne Conway violated the Hatch Act and is calling for her to be "removed from federal service". This administration is a threat to our national security.

CookieG

Since Ryan Zinke got fired for wearing MAGA socks maybe she should be fired, publicly flogged, and locked up for a few years. Violating the Hatch Act does seem to be a threat to our national security right?

Branson Hunter

Changing the discussion doesn't erase history. Those subterfuges digressions are necessary in the Trump world where Truth is not Truth. In any debate contest, someone would be laughed out of the room for juvenile distractions like that. Yesterday The Office of Special Counsel, a federal watchdog agency, called for the President's top aid to be removed from office for ongoing federal crimes. Kellyanne Conway response is that her ongoing unlawful political activities would not "silence" her. Today, we find that the chair of the Federal Elections Commission (FEC) wrote a statement Thursday to be "100% clear" that "it is illegal to solicit, accept, or receive anything of value from a foreign national in connection with a U.S. election." The statement came a day after President Trump told ABC News he would be open to any information from a foreign power and would not call the FBI. History Lesson: For America’s founders, the threat of election meddling was top of mind. John Adams sounded the alarm about foreign interference during his tenure at the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia in the summer of 1787 What's is in store for us tomorrow? Will the president call for a national emergency and begin shutting down those news agencies he says are the "enemy of the people. The Imperial Presidency will be pleased to have one news providing government news, FOX USA TRUTH. Sounds kinda of Orwellian doesn't it?

CookieG

I agree with you Branson. You do sound kinda Orwellian!

horsehouse

There are arguments for positions that ignore existing law and justify that position by saying so and so opponent did this or that. For example Zinke was not fired for wearing MAGA socks. Okay, I’m going to assume that was not a serious comment. On the other hand violations of a law, whether it is a threat to national security or not is not the point. If one is willing to rationalize and violate the law then it supports the famous comment that Trump could shoot someone on 5th Avenue and his supporters would not be repelled. Seems we are in that full Orwellian nightmare. Shameful loss of devotion to the Constitution and rule of law.

Branson Hunter

The following is Orwellian: Congress member Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y. accused Trump of conducting “an authoritarian and fascist presidency.” She pressed her case Today that the Trump administration is running “concentration camps” at the U.S.-Mexico border. “The fact that concentration camps are now an institutionalized practice in the home of the free is extraordinarily disturbing, and we need to do something about it,” Ocasio-Cortez told her viewers on Instagram. “I don’t use those words lightly,” Ocasio-Cortez said. This administration has admitted it has lost all contact with hundreds of children's parents. Three is little hope of reunited families anytime soon if at all. Very soon as planned ICE will begin a massive purge of undocumented residents in America like we haven't seen since the Internment of Japanese residents and citizens. Trump is not what America stands for; he is what the ELECTORAL COLLEGE so happily foisted upon the people of the land. We have a nefarious comic book villain presidency capable of evil.
