TWENTYNINE PALMS — The Twentynine Palms City Council plans to bring back the issue of providing fire services at its meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, in the council chambers at City Hall, 6136 Adobe Road.
“I don’t want to make a decision tonight,” Mayor Joel Klink said at the end of the three-hour special meeting Tuesday, Jan. 14.
The mayor asked for time to hold a meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 17, between himself, Mayor Pro Tem Daniel Mintz, Twentynine Palms Water District President Sam Moore and Vice President Bo Bourikas to review materials from the city attorney on a joint powers authority, and for the water district directors to hold their regular meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 23, to discuss the city manager’s PowerPoint presentation.
“I’m hoping that if the water district wants a joint meeting that we can make that decision as a council at our first meeting in February, and maybe come up with a solution.” Klink explained. “Maybe they don’t want to proceed with Local Agency Formation Commission, maybe we do. We really need to move on that to get the application in by the end of the year.”
