Happy collectors

Sam Niles, holding the check, and members of the Twentynine Palms High School Interact Club are all smiles over the first official donation to their Annual Canned Food Drive and Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway, a check for $400 from Saint Martin in the Fields Episcopal Church.

TWENTYNINE PALMS — The Twentynine Palms High School Interact Club is collecting canned goods and other perishable items to be given away with 300 Turkeys at its annual Turkey Distribution.  

Donations are being accepted at Twentynine Palms High School, 72750 Wildcat Way, Twentynine Palms Junior High School, Utah Trail north of Two Mile Road, Twentynine Palms Elementary School, 74350 Playa Vista Drive and Palm Vista Elementary School, 74350 Baseline Road.

If your family needs food this Thanksgiving and you would like a turkey and the fixings so that you can have a celebration at home,  contact Reach Out Morongo Basin at (760) 361-1410. Reach Out will take sign ups until there are homes for all 300 turkeys.

Turkeys and food will be distributed to families who have pre-registered from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, in the Richard A. Casey Gym on the Wildcat campus.
