TWENTYNINE PALMS — Final preparations are being made for this year’s Winter Light Parade, tree lighting ceremony and visit from Santa.

All three events will take place Tuesday, Dec. 4, in downtown Twentynine Palms.

The Twentynine Palms Rotary Club will work with the city of Twentynine Palms to produce this year’s Winter Light Parade on Adobe Road.

The parade will be held in conjunction with the annual city tree lighting ceremony, organized by Soroptimist International of Twentynine Palms, with help from the Twentynine Palms Kiwanis Club and the Rotary Club, at Veterans Park north of city hall.

A Christmas Wonderland with holiday inflatables, decorations and music will be hosted by the City Recreation Department on Adobe Road in front of city hall.

JOIRIDE, a new helicopter touring company locating in Twentynine Palms will bring in Santa. The helicopter will land on Adobe Road in front of city hall at 6:30. Residents young and old will meet Santa and take pictures at a special outdoor stage in the street. Santa will head back to his workshop at 7:30.

A highlight of the evening, set for 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., will be the arrival of Santa, who will fly in on a helicopter.

The parade will start at 5:30 on Joshua Lane. It will turn north and head up Adobe Road, passing city hall, before turning left onto Sun Valley Drive.

After the parade, some entries will return and be on display in the lot west of Veterans Park at city hall.

Light parade applications are available at park and recreation offices at Luckie Park or by calling Z107.7 at (760) 366-8471. Applicants are asked to bring donations to the Twentynine Palms Food Pantry.

After the parade passes, the combined Twentynine Palms service clubs; Soroptimist International, Kiwanis and Rotary, will host the formal beginning of the holiday season as they prepare to illuminate the official City Christmas Tree at the park.

After a welcome from Mayor McArthur Wright, area churches will mark the season with music and celebration,  service clubs will serve hot chocolate and holiday goodies. The tree will be lit at 6:25.
