TWENTYNINE PALMS — Bistro 29, 73527 Twentynine Palms Highway, will play host to a Women of Color discussion group from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15, organizer Carie Williams said.
The group, she said, gets together at the restaurant, also known as B29, on a quarterly basis to discuss issues, from babysitting and schools to infrastructure, that affect life in Twentynine Palms.
“How we can get together and find a way to make things better,” she said.
The first get together, in August, drew about 25 participants. It was more of a meet and greet.
The second session, on Monday, will center around issues of health and depression. Organizers are hoping for closer to 40 people to take part.
The group’s mission statement hints that it is an inclusive group.
“Even though we are women of color; we do not discriminate against any woman, no matter what race, creed or beliefs. We are here to build each other up.”
The next session will be around sometime near the 2019 Martin Luther King Jr. holiday, Jan. 21.
