TWENTYNINE PALMS — Residents looking to help clean up Twentynine Palms a week before the main weekend of Pioneer Days may want to take advantage of a Community Cleanup Day from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 13.
The city of Twentynine Palms and Burrtec Waste and Recycling Services will partner in the effort, anchored by a trash drop-off site in the Community Services Center parking lot, 74325 Joe Davis Drive, south of Luckie Park.
The drop-off location is free of charge. Residents will be helped unloading and depositing their trash loads on a first-come, first-served basis.
Items accepted will include household trash in bags, but no loose garbage, scrap metal, appliances and mixed recycling such as paper, glass, plastic, aluminum and cardboard. All wood must be shorter than 4 feet long.
Electronics, tires and loaded trailers more than 14 feet long will not be accepted.
Household hazardous waste such as motor oil, paint, insecticides, and batteries will not be accepted at the cleanup site.
A household hazardous waste cleanup will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, behind City Hall, 6136 Adobe Road.
A household hazardous waste collection site, 62499 Twentynine Palms Highway in Joshua Tree, is open 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. the third Saturday of each month.
