Dolores Yvonne McGee Moats, a 68-year resident of California and a 33-year resident of Joshua Tree, died from cancer at her Joshua Tree home on Nov. 9, 2018. She was 86 years old.
The daughter of Charles Lawrence McGee and Hazel Elizabeth Peel McGee, she was born Nov. 30, 1931, in Pomona.
Dolores was raised in Pomona, relocated to Corona del Mar and graduated from Newport Harbor High. She attended Orange Coast College and married in 1950. She raised her family in Huntington Beach until moving to Joshua Tree in 1986.
She was a homemaker for 68 years.
She was a member of the Skyview Chapel Church of God and the Christian Women’s Connection (CWC), with whom she was a devotional leader.
Dolores loved music, poetry and reading.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth J. Moats, her son, Daniel J. Moats, her daughter-in-law, Cheri Moats, her daughter, Karen Denise Moats, four grandchildren, David Moats, Aaron Moats, John Moats and Jenny Moats Zeller, and eight great-grandchildren.
A viewing will begin at 11 a.m. and a memorial service at 11:45 a.m. Nov. 26 at Skyview Chapel Church of God in Joshua Tree. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Nov. 26 at Joshua Tree Memorial Park.
Her final wishes were fulfilled by being in her home, with her family, free of pain and at total peace.
