A 28-year native of Twentynine Palms has lost her battle with cancer. Jacqueline Vaisola Barber-Rouse was born March 19, 1962, in Oahu, Hawaii to Martha and Gilbert Barber.

She is survived by her six children, Letalatala Grady, of Mesa, Arizona, Taoa Barber, of Augusta, Georgia, and Tiare Barber, Tyler Barber, Tiane Bonea and Shawnta Akins, all of Twentynine Palms; and six grandchildren, Isabella Barber-Ybarra, Mikey Ybarra, Nathan Ybarra, Scanyln Barber, Noah Barber and Ezra Wolik.

She attended El Camino High School in Oceanside. Before she had children, she played for the Camp Pendleton Women’s Marine Lady Ghost Riders Rugby Team as a lock from 1981 to 1984.

After marriage, she moved to Kaneohe, Hawaii, and played for the MCAS Lady Jammers as an outside hitter. In 1990 she moved to Twentynine Palms and took on the role of being a homemaker. She enjoyed playing sports, music and dancing, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with loved ones. She will truly be missed.

Services for Jacqueline will be held Feb. 5 at 57285 Yucca Trail, Yucca Valley.
