We would like to give out thanks to the Twentynine Palms community for the respect shown to Sgt. Maj. Ray V. Wilburn, USMC Retired, as his coffin traveled to the cemetery. Those who pulled over, those who stood outside their cars and those who saluted were very appreciated by his family.

We thank all those who called, sent cards, sent flowers and plants, brought food, donated to the Wounded Warrior Project and attended Ray’s funeral service aboard the Combat Center and his burial service at the Twentynine Palms Public Cemetery.

Our thanks to Mr. Gen. Mullen and his Combat Center staff for the beautiful chapel service and moving burial service at the cemetery.

Thanks to Wiefels Yucca Valley and Twentynine Palms Public Cemetery for their services.

The newspaper coverage in The Desert Trail, Hi-Desert Star and Observation Post was outstanding. Ray worked for the Hi-Desert Publishing Company for four years.

Ray loved the Marine Corps and he loved Twentynine Palms. He couldn’t be resting in a better place.
