TWENTYNINE PALMS — The Twentynine Palms High School boys varsity basketball team earned at least a share of this year’s De Anza League title with a 93-74 home win over Desert Hot Springs Wednesday, Feb. 7.

At 9-0 in De Anza League play, the Wildcats are one game ahead of Rancho Mirage, at 8-1. The teams will end the regular season tied at 9-1 because Twentynine Palms was ordered by CIF officials to forfeit their last game of the season, against Rancho Mirage, because they played one too many non-conference games this year.

Wildcat Athletic Director T.J. Stanford noted that while the teams will be tied in the standings, the Wildcats will be considered league champions because of higher rankings.

The evening saw senior Wildcats Tyree Harrison, Adam and Abraham Bell, Kyle Bobadilla, Jordan Toa, Bryton Williams and D’Shaun Barrett honored.

On Wednesday, the Wildcats will play host to Summit High School of Fontana in the first round of CIF playoffs. The game is set to begin at 6 p.m.

Summit High School finished the regular season with a 68-39 home court win over Colton to take an 8-2 mark in Sunkist League standings, putting them in second place behind Kaiser High School, at 9-1.
