TORRANCE — Twentynine Palms High School track and field athletes broke several school and personal records when they traveled to El Camino College Saturday, May 11, to compete in CIF finals.  

The lone representative from the eight-school Desert Valley League, the Wildcats did not disappoint.  

Jonathan Carson, Brandon Benton, Jeremiah Kirk, Johnnie Smith and Shaniah Newby each earned All-CIF honors.

In her final high school race, Newby re-broke her own school records with personal record times of 12.46 in the 100m and a 25.25 in the 200 meter race.  

Fourth-year senior captain and two-time All CIF thrower Adam Mapuatuli earned a CIF Championship in the discus throw.

Next up for the team is the end of season celebration to recognize the accomplishments for the season on Tuesday, May 28.
